MBA Program

AWU has recently introduced a new and innovative MBA program, called the Professional MBA. Professors from well-known business schools in North America supervise MBA students on-line on a one-to-one basis for the effective completion of the degree program.

The Professional MBA program was introduced in response to the growing demand for high quality management education around the world. In this fast-paced and dynamic global business environment, many mid-career professionals prefer specially designed MBA programs. Most managers also do not have the flexibility to leave work for several years in order to study as full-time students in one of the traditional university campuses. Therefore, AWU has responded to this growing market by bringing professors and mentors from traditional universities in direct contact with students through learning online.

Effective learning depends on the background and motivation of the student. It is also affected by the assessment of prior learning. If a student has a minimum of 3-5 years actual business experience he/she should be able to complete the AWU-MBA requirements in a semester, or two at most.

The professional MBA at AWU has been designed to cover the essentials of management in an efficient way. One can learn the fundamentals of an MBA without paying excessive tuition fees and without attending resident class sessions. Yet, the results of the AWU MBA program are equivalent to programs at any traditional university.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROFESSIONAL MBA PROGRAM

The goal of AWU is to enroll a very small number of highly motivated mid-career people who will learn and review the basics of modern business management so that they can provide leadership in their own fields. The aim of the program is to produce business leaders who will have a competitive edge in the global business environment. Global thinking is promoted throughout the program.

REQUIREMENTS

The professional MBA degree requires a comprehensive understanding of the basic functional areas of business management. In order to gain admission, a student must have a Bachelors degree or the equivalent, and practical experience at the managerial level.

Six courses of 5 credits each must be taken by a student in order to obtain the degree. Students may receive credits for equivalent courses they have taken at other recognized universities. Once a student has completed the courses, he or she will be asked to write a thesis on a significant business topic. An alternative to the thesis requires that the student submit a report or a case study which shows how various aspects of the courses can be integrated into real life management problems.
